The Amitabha Sutra (Amida-kyo in Japanese) is a popular colloquial name for the Shorter Sukhavativyuha Sutra. It is a Mahayana Buddhist text, and it is one of the primary sutras recited in the Pure Land Buddhist schools, often recited as part of the evening service and at Chinese and Japanese funeral services.
