Prayer is a state rather than an activity… prayer is “the state of the soul illuminated solely by the light of the Holy Trinity in ecstasy.” This is the state of spiritual perfection. The irrational parts of the soul are not rejected but redirected: desire is transformed into divine eros, and incensiveness is transformed into divine agape. Thus both desire and anger are reintegrated and the soul can love God in its completeness.
