The traditions are like a musical composition that draws on tradition, on established rules and practices. But each time a composer writes with these rules and in this tradition, something new is created, faithful in its own way and yet absolutely unprecedented… Spiritual traditions, such as hesychasm or Ignatian spirituality, can be seen as setting the boundaries of orthopraxis within which God can be encountered.
